Layers are one of the most useful features of photoshop.
Layers allow you to have several pieces of an image in the same file which can be arranged on top of each other to form the complete image.
• Like stacked transparent sheets which you can paint or place images, shapes or text on.
• You can see thought the transparent areas to the layers below
• You can work on each layer independently, experimenting to create the effect you want.
• You can adjust layers brightness and contrast, special effects, opacity and staking order.
• Can play with filters of colour and adjustment layers that create effects without altering the original layer.
• Remove effects by deleting the layer or adjustment layer.
To manage layers use the Layer Palette
To open the palette: Window Menu> Layers
Adding, naming and deleting layers
• New layer button in layers palette
• New layers are placed above
• Layer menu> new layer
• When you add text or copy and paste a new layer is created for you
• Duplicate layers
• Delete layers by selecting them and hitting delete or move down to trash can.
